The silence of colours..

Red, blue, green, yellow and the vibrant magenta

they fought among themselves to be seen

but as the salty tears fell on them

it mixed them into unknown colours

For her white had to be kept pure

unblemished, without any colour touching her

she never knew the meaning of “widow”

nor did she knew the parameters of marriage

she had known school and loved it

but the “future” of girls is always different

she was told, marriage was to be the magic wand

that would transform her life..

It she wears the white and misses her school

with long endless days and envies the boys

does the household work like a maid

and fears the men around her

It is the night that she likes now

devoid of colours and lights

like her own life, with shattered dreams..
